Cupra Formentor – FineVu GX4K Front and Rear Dash Cam Installation with Parking Mode
In this Cupra Formentor, we completed a professional installation of the dual-channel FineVu GX4K dash cam system. The setup includes a front camera recording in 4K UHD and a rear camera recording in Full HD.
The system was connected in a way that allows the active parking mode to operate after the ignition is switched off. This means the dash cam can continue protecting the vehicle while parked and record events that occur when the driver is away.
FineVu GX4K dual-channel dash cam system
The FineVu GX4K makes it possible to record events in front of and behind the vehicle at the same time. The front camera captures the road and traffic situations ahead of the car, while the rear camera provides additional coverage and records activity behind the Cupra.
A dual-camera system is particularly useful during collisions, dangerous road situations and parking incidents. Footage from both directions can provide a more complete record of what happened than a front-only dash cam.
A professional dash cam and in-car electronics installation in Lublin includes not only mounting the cameras, but also hiding the wiring, connecting the power supply correctly and configuring parking mode.
Discreet front camera positioning
The front dash cam was installed in the upper section of the windscreen, close to the rear-view mirror housing. This position gives the camera a wide view of the road while keeping it discreet from the driver’s perspective.
During installation, we take into account the factory equipment located near the windscreen, including the mirror housing, sensors, driver-assistance systems and the dotted ceramic area. The camera must be positioned so that it records the correct area without obstructing visibility.
Rear camera mounted on the tailgate window
The rear camera from the FineVu GX4K set was installed on the rear window of the Cupra Formentor. Its compact size means it does not significantly restrict the view through the interior mirror while still recording the area behind the car.
The cable connecting both cameras was routed beneath the vehicle’s interior trim. The wiring does not hang near the windows or run across visible areas of the dashboard, preserving the clean appearance of the Cupra interior.
Parking mode protection while the vehicle is unattended
In this installation, the dash cam was connected to support active parking mode. After the ignition is switched off, the system can change from standard driving recording to monitoring the vehicle while it is parked.
Parking mode increases the chance of recording an impact, attempted damage or another incident that takes place when the driver is away. This can be especially useful when the car is left in public, residential or company car parks.
Correct hardwiring should also protect the vehicle battery. The installation must provide power after the ignition is switched off without allowing the dash cam to discharge the battery excessively.
4K front recording and Full HD rear recording
The FineVu GX4K front camera records in 4K UHD resolution. The high level of detail can help capture registration plates, road signs and other important elements visible during a journey.
The rear camera records in Full HD and documents events behind the vehicle. Combining front and rear recording provides a more complete view of journeys and potential incidents.

Why choose professional dash cam installation?
In a modern vehicle, dash cam installation involves more than attaching a camera to the windscreen and plugging it into a 12 V socket. A dual-channel system requires safe cable routing to the rear of the vehicle, correct power connections and proper parking mode configuration.
The wiring must also be routed safely around the pillars and curtain airbags. Cables should not interfere with the operation of factory safety systems or place unnecessary stress on the interior trim.
Sound Audio System provides professional installation of dash cams, reversing cameras, multimedia equipment and car audio systems for passenger cars, SUVs and commercial vehicles.

Does the FineVu GX4K record from the front and rear at the same time?
Yes. It is a dual-channel dash cam system, so the front and rear cameras can record simultaneously and protect both sides of the vehicle.
Does the dash cam work after the ignition is switched off?
Yes, when the system is correctly hardwired for parking mode. After the vehicle is parked, the dash cam can continue monitoring events around the car.
Can parking mode discharge the car battery?
A correctly installed system should include low-voltage protection. The dash cam can be switched off or its operation limited when the battery voltage falls to a defined level.
Where is the best place to install the front dash cam?
The camera is usually mounted high near the rear-view mirror. This position provides a good field of view while keeping the device discreet and outside the driver’s main line of sight.
Are the cables visible inside the vehicle?
No. During professional installation, the wiring is routed beneath the headliner, pillar covers and other interior trim elements.
Does the rear camera restrict visibility?
The rear camera is compact and installed in a position that minimises any obstruction. Its exact location depends on the design of the rear window and tailgate.
Do 4K recordings require more storage space?
Yes. High-resolution video files use more storage than standard Full HD footage. It is therefore important to use a compatible memory card with sufficient capacity and endurance.
How long does a front and rear dash cam installation take?
Installation time depends on the vehicle design, the cable route to the rear camera and the type of parking mode connection. The exact time is confirmed after checking the vehicle and selected equipment.
