Soundproofing Materials

At Sound Audio System, we specialize in improving the acoustic comfort of vehicles. We offer a wide range of soundproofing materials:

  • Butyl Mats – Ideal for reducing vibrations and noise. They are highly adhesive and effective at eliminating vibrations. Perfect for use on the floor, doors, and roof of the car.
  • Acoustic Foams – Designed to absorb sounds and improve the vehicle’s interior acoustics. Particularly effective at dampening high frequencies, perfect for use in trunks and doors.
  • Composite Materials – Combining the properties of multiple materials to provide maximum sound isolation. Used in areas requiring advanced insulation, such as wheel arches and partitions.
  • Anti-Vibration Pastes – Applied in hard-to-reach areas for additional noise reduction. Ideal for metal surfaces, such as the engine hood and trunk.

Benefits

By using soundproofing materials, you can:

  • Reduce external noise, such as wind noise or tire sounds.
  • Improve the sound quality of your car audio system by eliminating resonances.
  • Increase driving comfort, especially on long trips.
  • Reduce vibrations, positively impacting the lifespan of vehicle components.
  • Enhance the value of your vehicle with professional soundproofing.

Applications

We use soundproofing materials in various parts of the car to provide comprehensive soundproofing:

  • Car Floor: Butyl mats eliminate vibrations and road noise, enhancing the acoustic comfort in the cabin.
  • Doors: Acoustic foams and composite mats improve sound insulation, enhancing the quality of your car’s audio system.
  • Roof: Butyl mats reduce rain noise and vibrations from metal surfaces.
  • Trunk: Anti-vibration pastes and sound-absorbing foams eliminate noise generated by luggage and tires.
  • Wheel Arches: Composite and butyl mats effectively isolate noise from the road and tires.

Each material is designed to effectively reduce specific frequency ranges of noise:

  • Butyl Mats: Effective at damping low frequencies, such as engine vibrations.
  • Acoustic Foams: Best for eliminating high frequencies, such as street noise.
  • Composite Materials: Versatile, damping a wide range of frequencies.
  • Anti-Vibration Pastes: Effective at reducing point vibrations and resonances.

How to choose the right car soundproofing material

Butyl mat, acoustic foam and anti-vibration paste perform different jobs. The best result usually comes from matching the material to the panel and the type of noise instead of applying one product everywhere.

Butyl mat for vibration control

Butyl mat adds damping to large metal panels such as doors, the floor, roof and luggage compartment. It reduces panel resonance and creates a more stable mounting environment for door speakers.

Acoustic foam for airborne noise

Closed-cell and sound-absorbing foams are used as a second layer where space allows. They help decouple trim panels and reduce higher-frequency road, wind and interior noise. The correct thickness matters because the trim must still fit without stress.

Anti-vibration paste for complex shapes

Paste is useful on curved, ribbed or difficult-to-reach surfaces where a sheet material cannot be applied evenly. It complements other layers rather than replacing them.

A layered approach

  1. Identify the dominant noise source during an inspection or road test.
  2. Stabilise vibrating metal with a damping layer.
  3. Add an acoustic or decoupling layer in suitable areas.
  4. Reassemble the interior and check clips, seals and moving parts.
