Car audio Installation in Audi A4 B9 – Effective Factory Sound Upgrade

Many Audi A4 B9 owners – despite driving a well-equipped car – are not satisfied with the factory car sound system. In this project, our goal was to significantly improve the sound quality and bring more dynamics to the entire system. We performed a full car audio installation, including new speaker sets, amplifiers, DSP tuning, and door soundproofing.

The result? A complete car audio upgrade with clearer sound, deeper bass, and a much more pleasant in-car listening experience.

🔧 Soundproofing – The Foundation of a Quality Car Audio System

Before diving into hardware installation, we focused on improving the car’s interior acoustics. The front doors were already soundproofed with Hifonics mats, so this time we applied STP Black Silver butyl mats to the rear doors. This significantly reduced road noise and vibrations, creating a better acoustic environment inside the cabin.

Proper vehicle soundproofing is essential to get the most out of any upgraded car audio system.

🎶 Front Setup – Steg MZ650C and Awave DSP 6V5

For the front speaker setup, we installed the Steg MZ650C – a high-quality two-way component system. It was wired in active mode, meaning each speaker (tweeter and woofer) is powered individually for greater control over sound performance.

All signal management and crossover processing are handled by the Awave DSP 6V5, a powerful digital signal processor that allows for advanced time alignment, EQ tuning, and channel separation. This DSP is perfect for advanced car audio installations, offering flexibility and high precision tuning tailored to the car’s interior.

🔊 Rear Speakers – Musway ML6.2E

The rear doors were equipped with Musway ML6.2E – a two-way coaxial speaker system. These speakers enhance the rear stage and provide a better audio experience for backseat passengers. Musway is known for producing well-balanced speakers with natural tonal characteristics – ideal for car sound system upgrades.

🔋 Amplification – Hifonics ZRX 900/4 + Subwoofer

Power is supplied by the Hifonics ZRX 900/4, a four-channel amplifier. Two channels are used for powering the front woofers from Steg, while the other two channels are bridged to run a dedicated subwoofer located in the trunk. This provides strong, punchy bass without overwhelming the rest of the sound spectrum.

🔌 RCA Cables – Reds Music Interconnects

We used Reds Music RCA interconnects for signal transfer between the DSP, amplifier, and source unit. These are shielded, low-capacitance cables that ensure clean and undistorted signal flow – an essential element in any professional-grade car audio upgrade.

✅ Results and Sound Quality Improvement

Immediately after the installation and tuning, the difference was night and day. The new car audio system delivered improved clarity, better-defined bass, and a more natural soundstage. Thanks to the Awave DSP 6V5, we achieved an acoustically balanced sound tailored to the vehicle interior.
