The BMW E63 Coupe already delivers plenty of excitement in its stock form. However, its factory sound system leaves much to be desired—especially if you’re an enthusiast of clean, dynamic sound. That’s why the owner of this vehicle decided to go all-in on a full audio system upgrade – from soundproofing, through high-end component installation, to precise DSP tuning.
The result? A complete breakthrough in sound quality and driving experience.

In this project, we created a system that surpasses even many high-end home audio setups. Inside the BMW E63 cabin, we built a soundstage worthy of a professional studio—while keeping the car’s interior design and full functionality intact.

Installed Car Audio Equipment – 3-Way Front System

For the BMW E63 Coupe, we selected carefully tested and proven components from Steg – one of the leading brands in the high-end car audio world.
On the front stage, we installed a full 3-way system, delivering incredible precision, wide soundstage, and rich depth.

🔊 Tweeter – Steg MSS 1M

For high frequencies, we chose the Steg MSS 1M – high-end tweeters with aluminum housing, neodymium magnets, and exceptionally low harmonic distortion.

To integrate them seamlessly, we custom-designed and 3D printed dedicated mounting adapters using ASA material, known for its high temperature and humidity resistance – ideal for car doors.

🔊 Woofer – Steg BM8 II

Replacing the OEM underseat woofers, we installed Steg BM8 II – 8″ subwoofers specifically designed for BMW models.

Front Door Soundproofing – The Foundation of Great Sound

We thoroughly soundproofed the BMW’s front doors using two types of STP materials:

🛠️ STP Black Silver – butyl-aluminum sound deadening mat, effectively eliminating panel vibrations and resonance.
🧼 K3S & K6S Acoustic Foams – second-layer materials for better acoustic separation and reduction of internal sound reflections.

Thanks to this approach, the cabin’s acoustic environment significantly improved—leading to better sound performance, especially in the mid and low frequencies.

The System’s Heart – Awave DSP 8.1 Amplifier & DSP Processor

To unlock the full potential of the hi-end Steg speakers, we selected the powerful Awave DSP 8.1.
This unit combines a 10-channel Class D amplifier with a built-in 10-channel DSP processor, offering complete sound control across the entire system.

The processor allowed precise tuning tailored to the acoustic characteristics of the BMW E63, creating a natural soundstage with impressive depth and space—just as you’d expect from a premium hi-fi system.
