Kia Sportage and Improving the Factory Sound System. Car Audio with Focal STP Awave Products – Let’s get started.
The car was done in 3 stages 😁
A year ago, we did soundproofing for the front and rear doors, as well as the wheel arches:

After some time, the customer returned for a speaker upgrade in the front with Focal PS165 FXE:

As they say, third time’s a charm.
We met again. This time for a complete Car Audio system build!
Car Audio in French and Italian!
We stick to Focal. The front speakers were already installed. The doors were soundproofed.
The crossover between the tweeter and the woofer was passive, using the provided crossover.
Now, it’s time for some upgrades.
We added a sound processor with an amplifier – Awave DSP A6.
We only needed two amplifier channels, which we used.
Additionally, we installed two amplifiers. One is a four-channel:
Focal FPX 4.800. Four powerful channels of 125 RMS each!!
And a monoblock Focal FPX 1.1000!!
The power supply is all set!
Yes, in the meantime, we also soundproofed the trunk with STP butyl mats!
Another element of the car that we soundproofed.
The material used is the excellent STP Black Silver mat and 3mm Bitmat K3s acoustic foam.
Improving the factory sound system without bass?
Oh no!!
In the trunk, we installed a 25cm Focal PS25F subwoofer.
It’s mounted in a 35-liter open box.
In the rear doors, we installed a Focal PC-165 FE coaxial set.
Why did we need Awave with an amplifier when we already have Focal amplifiers?
Well, because the factory passive crossovers went into the box. The two channels from the Awave powered the tweeters. Active crossover gives us much better tuning possibilities for the Car Audio system, as well as tonal matching for the entire setup.
Car Audio Summary. We’ve got Focal. We’ve got Awave. We’ve got STP mats. But how does it sound?
After tuning, we achieved a great dynamic range. The bass, even though from the BR enclosure, is fast and punchy. The Focal highs were softened.
The whole system plays coherently, and to my ear, it’s a real pleasure to listen to 😍
