Car Door Soundproofing – Alfa Romeo Giulia
Car door soundproofing is one of the most effective modifications to improve acoustic comfort inside the vehicle. In this project for the Alfa Romeo Giulia, we carried out full front door damping using high-performance materials tailored for automotive applications.
Why should you soundproof car doors?
Proper door damping significantly reduces external noise, such as road noise, tire hum, wind, and ambient city sounds. This translates into a more comfortable driving experience, especially at higher speeds.
What’s more, soundproofed doors provide an ideal environment for speakers. They reduce vibrations and unwanted resonances, allowing your audio system to deliver cleaner, more precise sound with better dynamics and depth.
Materials used in this project
First layer: STP Silver
We applied STP Silver sound deadening mats to the outer door panels to eliminate vibrations and dampen the sheet metal. This ensures a solid foundation for the soundproofing process.
Second layer: STP Liver
On the inner surface of the door, we used STP Liver, a flexible vibration damping material that adapts well to uneven surfaces, adding another layer of noise reduction.
Third layer: Bitmat K3S and K6S acoustic foams
To complete the installation, we added:
Bitmat K3S acoustic foam on the plastic trim panels to absorb mid and high frequencies,
Bitmat K6S in critical locations to further enhance insulation and suppress noise paths.
